MONTH AHEAD // MAY ’23

A SMALL TASTE OF WHAT'S COMING UP THIS MONTH

EDITOR’S NOTE //

I blinked and somehow it’s now May. The way time flies by is something I truly will never comprehend. Which is maybe partially why it seems to be all I talk about. Or is this and the weather all you know how to talk about when you get old?!

At the end of last month, we had to take a last minute trip back east to be with my 104-year-old grandma. It was a special, but emotional and tiring, whirlwind of a week, not only because of the visit but also because the journey from LA to get back home requires planes, trains and automobiles. It’s a good excuse to get some time back in the city (we always fly into JFK and this time, because of our flight times, we stayed in the city on either end of our trip) and no matter how rough the journey might be (3am wake up call heading out and a 3+ hour flight delay coming back), any time I get to spend with my grandma, talking with her, hearing her stories, sharing a meal (even though she is now in a nursing home the Italian in her hasn’t gone anywhere and she still tries to make sure everyone is fed, divvying up her meals until everyone has something to eat) is always 1000% worth it and something I will never regret. And while this was definitely not a vacation as we spent most of our time at the nursing home, we still made time to go to a few spots in both the Berkshires and the city so I will be sure to update my guides accordingly.

In the meantime, more on May below. Wishing you all a lovely month ahead! x

HAPPENINGS //

WHAT I’M PINNING //

Warm weather inspo on my MAY INSPO BOARD

WHAT I’M COOKING //

It’s my favorite season aka rhubarb and ramps season and I have a list about a mile long of all the things I want to make with them so I’ll be cooking rhubarb and ramps things and only rhubarb and ramps things until further notice.

WHAT I’M WEARING //

The weather can’t seem to keep up with how quickly time is flying by either so while I’d love to be wearing lighter layers, it’s still pretty chill so the oversized blazer and heavy sweaters continue on. But for when the weather does decide to catch up I’ve been eyeing this (would be so perfect for a cover-up too! and still can’t believe the price point or where it’s from!), this (I really need more fun tops) and these (because my shoe closet desperately needs some fun new options).

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO //

Anything that makes me dance! Been trying to get back to incorporating more dancing into my days as a form of added movement and stress release and this playlist definitely helps!

WHAT I’M READING //

Re-reading “You are a Badass” for the millionth time because I swear nothing helps me get out of a funk like reading this book

WHAT I’M WATCHING //

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is finally back on, which I’m so excited about, even though it’s, sadly, the final season.

WHAT I'M WORKING ON //

I know I keep talking about it but I swear, this is the month I finally finish my newsletter re-brand to get that going again. Also updating my NYC and Berkshires guides to include the new spots we just went to on our recent trip home. Working on the garden/yard like the old person that I am. Keeping busy with fun events and happenings (May has barely started and already the calendar is filling up fast). And developing some new rhubarb recipes for the site.

WHERE I’M HEADED //

We have another trip back east at the end of the month/beginning of June, something in the works for Austin and hoping to have some fun summer plans settled soon
