MONTH AHEAD // AUGUST ’23

A SMALL TASTE OF WHAT'S COMING UP THIS MONTH

EDITOR’S NOTE //

Well, well, well. Look who finally decided to get a month ahead post up on time, you know, at the actual start of the month. Me, that would be me. But I never quite got around to posting much in July so now we have two month ahead posts back-to-back. What can I say? You win some, you lose some.

I had so many summery things I hoped to get up in July, but I also didn’t plan for our home to be ripped up for most of the month with our bedroom getting fixed up from last month’s mold findings. It ended up being even worse than we thought (like there was a straight up mushroom forest under our bedroom floors worse), but thankfully we’re on the other side of things, repairs are almost done and hey! we got new (and better) bedroom floors out of it!

And now suddenly everyone is talking about back to school and fall! Meanwhile, I’m like wait a second! It just started feeling like summer for me! ha So by all means, go on ahead and start having your fall fantasies (I mean I get it, fall is my favorite season!) but I will be firmly planted right here, right now, in August, which is still very much a summer month, full of summer moments, summer produce, summer swimsuits and summer sunsets. Honestly, though, can we all just agree that the jumping ahead to the next season whilst in the middle of the one you were just pining for is really starting to get a little old, no?!

And on that note…I’m off to go enjoy more of SUMMER and I hope you are, too! Because fall can wait until next month! xx

HAPPENINGS //

WHAT I’M PINNING //

An oldie but a goodie- this AUGUST INSPO BOARD is from a couple years ago but I must say the vibes are still very much vibing

WHAT I’M COOKING //

It’s been HOT in LA so light, simple, no-cook moments are front of mind. A lot of seafood, grilled fish (been loving a simple pan fried tilapia with a homemade mango salsa moment…literally takes 15 minutes to make and is so light, fresh and flavorful), shrimp tacos, crudo (I have a yummy recipe coming soon for one!), crisp salads and fresh fruit.

WHAT I’M WEARING //

I got to go to a Hermes store opening last month (I know! I can’t believe I’m writing those words either! Pinch me!!) so I finally busted out these fun heels and now I just want more exciting excuses to wear them. BTW, code alyssap15 will get you 15% off if you want to snag a pair for yourself!

And while we’re on the topic of shoes, I also just added these to my closet and when I tell you that they are basically the ideal sandal, I’m not lying. I like that they’re elevated enough to pass with a dressier outfit but can still be worn with chill and casual looks, too. Suffice it to say, I haven’t stopped wearing them since I got them.

Last but certainly not least, I didn’t need another striped button down, yet here we are with this one. And I have to say, this may be my favorite one yet. Then again, no one knows how to do a striped shirt better than the French. Side note- definitely size up a few sizes for the perfect oversized fit.

WHAT I’M EYEING //

Some new serving ware…I recently realized I used the same couple of pieces on repeat, which is fine and all, but I’d love to add a few new organic textured pieces into the mix, such as this or these

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO //

Not gonna lie, this song has a major grip on me right now! Such a good one for good vibes, good energy, good mood!

WHAT I’M WATCHING //

Does anyone else feel like there just…isn’t anything worth a watch anymore??! I’ll admit The Out-Laws was funny and did the trick for a recent movie night and we’ve been enjoying and a show from a few years ago called “The Mick” that I highly recommend if you’re in need of a good laugh, but we’re definitely in need of some new and good things to watch (so if you have recs, send them my way).

WORDS TO LIVE BY //
