BEAUTY EMPTIES NO. 002

Welcome to another edition of beauty empties, a series where I dive into the beauty products that I’ve recently used up, what I loved (and didn’t) about each of them, and which ones have earned THEMSELVES a permanent spot in my beauty cabinet!

JANUARY LABS DAILY BRIGHTENING TONIC C/O //

pros // Sometimes I wonder if toners are really doing anything, but, true to the name, I could definitely tell how much brighter my skin would be anytime I used this. Gentle smell, great texture, easy to use, reasonable price point, amazing for getting your skin glowing in the AM. The shape/size of the bottle also made it easy to travel with.

cons // My only con is that this is in a plastic bottle.

will I buy it again? // Absolutely!

CAUDALIE PURIFYING TONER C/O //

pros // As the name implies, this toner is purifying and yes, that is just what it does. This product has been especially helpful anytime my pores are clogged and has made such a difference in getting breakouts under control. The smell is very fresh/almost minty, so it’s also great for waking you up in the morning. The price point is also great for a clean beauty toner option.

cons // I just wish this didn’t come in a plastic bottle.

will I buy it again? // Yes, I am 100% planning to!

MAD HIPPIE VITAMIN C SERUM //

pros // Great price point, especially given that it’s a clean beauty product; love that it comes in a glass bottle versus plastic + the dropper makes it easy to apply product directly to your face; the formula is more watery so it’s very light and absorbs quickly without any sticky residu making it great for daytime use; didn’t have any adverse reactions so it’s great for sensitive skin; relatively neutral smell; also has vitamin E and ferulic acid making it a great clean beauty dupe for skinceuticals ce ferulic

cons // I like my vitamin C products to really brighten my skin and help even out the tone, and I felt like this just didn’t deliver on that front. It certinaly made my skin feel smooth, and at times even tighter, but I was hoping for more of an impact on my overall glow. Also, while the light formula is great for daytime, I would prefer something a little heavier for evening. And last, but not least, I mentioned the dropper being a pro for application but it also happens to be a con as it allows air and light into the mixture, both things that can make vitamin c formulas, which are highly senstitive, lose their potency.

will I buy it again? // Not now…maybe at a future point I’ll add it back into my rotation as my morning Vitamin C option, but for now I have a few other formulas I want to test out.

ANNEMARIE BORLIND LL REGENERATION Day cream  //

pros // Where do I even begin? This has been my go-to cream for years now and I love it so much I could write a whole post about it (maybe one day I will?!). It has a mild smell, a great texture that is thick enough to feel like it’s actually working yet not so thick that it doesn’t absorb well, it comes in a glass jar (granted the lid is plastic but still…), a little goes a long way so the jar last forever, the price is really reasonable and it truly actually just works (I fully credit this and their night cream for everyone always thinking I have gotten botox even though a needle has never come anywhere near my face).

cons // Trust me, if I had any, I probably wouldn’t have continued using this cream, almost exclusively, for the past 10+ years.

will I buy it again? // Forever and always yes (in case that wasn’t clear from the above text)!
