What's in Season // Fall Produce at the Farmer's Market

When it comes to picking out produce,

I typically let the seasons be my guide, because, let’s be real, nothing tastes quite as good as eating produce when it’s in its’ peak season {Hello summer peaches and tomatoes!}. Plus, buying what’s in season ensures you’re eating a variety of fruits and vegetables and experimenting with fun new things versus always eating the same things.

Now, it’s true, one of the perks of living in California is year-round farmer’s markets with certain items available, fresh, at all times, even times that they might not normally be available elsewhere {i.e. things like tomatoes and lettuce}. But don’t let that fool you, there’s still plenty of seasonal produce here. The season may just last longer, start earlier, end later, etc.

Below, I’ve written out a handy dandy list of what’s in season and the fall produce at the farmer’s market that I’ve been seeing popping up at our weekly Sunday morning shopping trips. However, don’t think this list is only for those shopping at farmer’s markets in Southern California. It’s also applicable to anywhere you shop for fruits and vegetables. But, if you want to be even more specific with what’s in season exactly where you live, this website is a super helpful resource.
