40 Date Night Ideas For Fall

40 Date Night Ideas For Fall

Call me basic,

but I think fall is one of the most romantic times of year. The temperatures start to drop, it gets darker out earlier, the small of pumpkin spice lingers in the air and the season just gives off all the warm and cozy vibes and fuzzy feelings that scream romantic dates with your better half (and yes, the fact that you’re basic AF).

Basic or not, there’s no denying that these season is perfect for getting cozy and cuddling up to your loved. And there are so many perfect ways to do just that. From at-home dates to inexpensive dates to DIY dates to outdoor dates and beyond, there’s truly something fun for every couple to cozy up over all while strengthening your bond and nurturing your relationship.

Dave and I, being the basic AF couple that we are, love nothing more than a good fall date so a lot of these are ones we’ve personally done and enjoyed, so I’m excited to share the full list with you, below.

40 Date Night Ideas For Fall

1// Drive-in Movie

Nothing cozier then cuddling up outside to catch a fun flick. Bonus points if it’s a fall-themed movie. We recently went to see “When Harry Met Sally" at the drive-in, and, while I’m definitely biased, since that’s one of my favorite movies, it was also such a perfect movie for a cozy and romantic date night.

2// stargazing

This can be as simple as spending the evening cuddled up in your backyard or a park or as official as heading to a local planetarium or going on an evening tour with an astrologer. TBH, when stars are involved, you can’t really miss.

3// spa night

Robe, masks, wine, some candles lit, a movie on, I mean, it doesn’t really get better than that does it?!

4// play A Board game

We’re big Scrabble fans over, but there are so many fun board games to play as a couple. Just don’t forget the wine and snacks!

5// Go for a hot air balloon ride

A sunset hot air balloon ride? Talk about a fall date night done right!

6// enjoy an evening fire pit

Don’t forget the blankets and the fixings for some s’mores!

7// Chili night

The perfect cozy date night dinner-in; make it extra fun by having a chili cook-off and you each make a different chili recipe to taste test. Winner of the best chili gets…an extra bowl of chili! Ha!

8// Pumpkin or apple cider tasting

Pick up a few different pumpkin or apple ciders and set up a little taste right at home. Don’t forget to have some yummy seasonal snacks to pair alongside!

9// Go wine tasting

Wine tasting on a crisp fall day is always a good idea! Be sure to check your local winery as many also host special seasonal events or dinners!

10// Make homemade pasta

It’s easy yet so fun to do, and the results are a delicious, comforting and romantic dinner in!

11// Take a pottery class

Find a class to either paint pottery pieces, or make your own pottery together (this is a great option if you’re in LA)

12// Apple picking

A quintessential fall date; I mean, is it even fall if you don’t pick apples with your significant other??! And while it probably goes without saying, don’t forget to indulge in an apple cider donut (or two!)

13// Bake a fall dessert together

You know all those apples you picked? Well, find a fun fall dessert recipe and out them to good use. IMO, apple pie is always a good idea!

14// Visit the pumpkin patch

Another basic, but quintessential, fall date, and for good reason! It’s always fun and cozy, and who doesn’t love hunting down the perfect pumpkins with their partner?!

15// Carve pumpkins

Best pumpkin wins! And don’t forget to roast the pumpkin seeds to enjoy together as a yummy snack!

16// Watch a cozy fall movie together

My votes on “When Harry Met Sally”

17// Cook a new cozy recipe together

Whether it’s a favorite food, or a dish you’ve both been talking about, pick a recipe and enjoy an evening tackling it together!

18// Visit a corn maze

Nothing like getting lost in a corn maze together for some couples bonding, am I right or am I right?! Ha!

19// camping/Glamping

I mean, does it get any cozier then being curled up in a tent together, cooking over a fire, sipping on hot chocolate and gazing at the stars? I think not.

20// visit a haunted house

For those couples looking for something a little less romantic and cozy, this is the way to go!

21// Go on a hay ride

Basic, but oh-so-fun! Bonus points for a hay ride that is also haunted!

22// Go for a long Sunday drive

It’s especially fun to have no plan and just see where the road takes you, be it a cute cafe, a small town or a fun antique shop

23// Grab a coffee and go thrift shopping

We love nothing more than a leisurely weekend afternoon, grabbing lattes, and browsing through treasures at a local thrift store. You just never know what you might find together!

24// Visit bookstores

This may be influenced by watching “You’ve Got Mail” just one too many times, but browsing through bookstores is always a favorite fall date of mine. It’s just so cozy and romantic and any books you buy are a fun way to remember the date by.

25// Go on a foliage hike

Take a hike to see some of fall’s prettiest foliage together

26// Drive around to look at foliage

For those of us who prefer something a little less active, take a drive to check out the foliage instead.

27// Visit a local brewery/cidery

Look for one that has live music and/or yummy food for an all-around fun date!

28// Go on a haunted history tour

We did this once in NYC and we still talk about it to this day. Not only was it a fun date night, but it was also a fascinating learning experience.

29/ Make candy apples

An easy but oh-so-fun and delicious treat that is perfect to make with a partner

30// Make a cozy breakfast to enjoy in bed

Breakfast in bed doesn’t have to be just for, well, breakfast. It’s also a fun dinner date at-home while enjoying a favorite movie.

31// COMPLETE A puzzle

A fun way to spend an evening, preferably by a crackling fire, but also just while sipping wine will do

32// Go horseback riding

Not only is this a fun activity to do as a couple, it’s also a great way to enjoy nature and experience fall foliage

33// Do an at-home wine and cheese tasting

With so many great wines and cheeses, it’s easy to put together your own delicious at-home wine and cheese tasting, but if you need some tips, check out this post!

34// Make DIY candles together

‘Tis the season for candles, so why not make some together? It’s fun, affordable and you can buy everything you need at your local craft store or even on Amazon (this kit even has everything you need right in one box).

35// Have a paint and sip night

Testing your (wine-fueled) painting skills and spend an evening creating art together

36// Have a lounge day

Put on your coziest sweats, load up the comfort food snacks, maybe build a blanket fort if your’e feeling adventurous, order in pizza and spend the day and evening watching your favorite fall movies.

37// Have a picnic in the park (or at the beach)

Nothing like a cozy picnic on a crisp fall day surrounded by fall foliage.

38// Spend time volunteering

Volunteering and giving back is a great way to bond as a couple and do something good at the same time. Find a local soup kitchen, put together toiletry kits, collect coats and hats for a shelter, put together blankets and towels for an animal shelter, etc.

39// Have a diner breakfast date

Yup, for dinner. Because it’s cozy and casual and fun and diner breakfast is always a good idea.

40// Pick a favorite seasonal food to do a taste test of

Think something like pumpkin or apple or even cinnamon. Then find a few items in that flavor and do a taste test. We find this works especially well with Trader Joe’s as they do a great job of carrying a large variety of seasonal items
