At Home // Paint + Sip Date Night
During our time at home,
I’ve been picking up lots of my old favorite hobbies, including drawing and painting. I especially love how therapeutic and relaxing painting is. It really allows you to zen out and escape, something that is more important this year than ever. And while it’s certainly a fun activity to do alone, or as an afternoon project, it also makes for a great at home date night. Once you have a few basic supplies, you really don’t need much else, so it’s also a relatively inexpensive date night. And it’s easy to switch it up every time, with each person taking turns picking what to paint, or trying different wines, or having a variety of snacks, so it’s a date night you can do multiple times without getting bored of it. Below, I’m sharing what you need, along with some suggestions and tips, for your own at home paint and sip date night.
SIP
For summertime paint + sip date nights, I like wines that are light, crisp and easy to sip over a prolonged period of time. A few favorites include-

-If you’re struggling with what to paint, or how to even get started, there are plenty of free tutorials and videos out there. Just do a quick search on Youtube and lots of things should pop up.
-Sometimes it’s fun to paint separate things, sometimes it’s fun to paint the same thing. You can also take turns either picking an image or setting up a still-life to paint.
-Like I mentioned up above, most of the supplies are super easy to find on Amazon or at your local craft store (Michael’s is great, too, with their coupons), but you can also order kits that have everything for you. A few to check out include this one, these paint by numbers options (for those who might not be as confident with their painting skills, or are unsure of what to paint), this paint by numbers is customizable (so you could pick your favorite couple photo, or maybe even a favorite vacation memory) and it even has the option to come with a frame, and this one. Etsy also has a lot of great options like this customizable one, this one that includes everything, even the glasses and a snack, and this pretty watercolor one.
PAINT
You really only need a few things, with many of the items being negotiable. I suggest checking out Amazon as they have everything you could need (they even sell complete painting kits that are super in-expensive) but I also like Michael’s since they have such great coupons. Here are some items I suggest having for your paint + sip date night-
-Cups of water (I just use a bowl, mason jar or an empty can or yogurt container)
-Paper towels
-Easel (not necessary but some people prefer to have one)
-Drop cloth or old newspapers (if you’re paining inside, you’ll want to put something down to protect your surfaces + floor)
-Magazines, pictures, fruit, flowers, objects, etc. for inspiration and/or to set up still lifes to paint
SNACK
I like to make sure the snacks hassle-free, relatively neat (since painting can get kind of messy), easy to eat and easy to grab with your hands so as not to take away from the painting. A few favorites include-

-sliced salami or cured meats
