MONTH AHEAD // FEBRUARY 2022

A SMALL TASTE OF WHAT'S COMING UP THIS MONTH

Editor’s Note //

Well, I guess it’s officially the start of the new year for me, according to me from two weeks ago. So, happy new year?! Ha!

January was definitely the longest year ever (yes, I do mean year, because yes, it felt way longer than a month ever should), but I’m glad it’s over and behind us. Even though it wasn’t all terrible! Case in point- my grandmother celebrated turning 103 (Yes, she really is 103! Crazy, I know!). I wish we could have been back east to celebrate with her in person, but just as grateful to have the phone calls with her and still be able to even chat with her at all. Such a gift to have had a grandparent for this long, and I don’t take it for granted!

Another fun thing we did in January was try a new (and highly anticipated) restaurant here in LA, Mother Wolf. Not everything was a home run, but Evan Funke never disappoints when it comes to the pastas. If you’re in LA, highly recommend checking it out and whatever you do, don’t forget to order the carbonara! It was INSANE!

We’re kicking off the month with a fun little getaway (more on that below). Then I’m looking forward to catching up on some posts I’m majorly behind on for the site (Yup, looking at you kitchen makeover.) once we return, as well as taking some time to figure out some more travel, goals and plans for the year and this site, and how I can really get the ball rolling on some of the dreams I’ve had for a while now (ahem, a cookbook, and doing more events, initiatives, etc. to give back and have the community involved in giving back.).

Maybe, just maybe, I’m finally starting to feel a bit more excited and ready for 2022, after all….

xx

HAPPENINGS //

what I’m pinning //

lots of winter white outfits, cozy vibes and, ya know, some hearts (because vday, duh!) over on my FEBRUARY INSPO BOARD

what I’m watching //

desperate times call for desperate searching deep in the Netflix archives, and while there isn’t usually a whole lot there, occasionally there’s a gem or two. Case in point, “Great News”. We started it on a whim, when we needed something mindless and quick to watch, and I have to say I’ve actually laughed pretty hard at several of the episodes (something I haven’t done for much else we’ve watched as of late).

what I’m listening to //

my new favorite playlist that’s perfect for easy, chill all-day listening

what I’m reading //

so I know I mentioned this book just a few weeks ago, but I’m still re-reading it, and it truly is so good that it’s always worth mentioning again and again and again. If you have not yet read “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” I truly can’t recommend it enough!

what I’m cooking //

I’m on a real soup kick lately, but I’ve also got alllll the superbowl food things on my mind (because duh! The food is the only thing that matters about the superbowl!). Thinking I need to remake this dip for it and have also been perfecting my buffalo cauliflower!

what I'm working on //

Since January is basically spring here in SoCal, we’ve already started cleaning up and refreshing our garden and backyard. My cosmos finally bloom (well, one of them did anyways), the jasmine is in full bloom (and smelling glorious!) and, to my surprise, I recently had a hyacinth (that I planted on a whim from a gift box I received last year, thinking that it most definitely wouldn’t grow) open. Needless to say, it’s inspiring me to get outside in the garden and get even more flowers and things planted! Hoping to track down some white cosmos and a few more olive trees, stay tuned!

where I’m headed //

Feels like it’s been too long since I had the “where I’m headed” on here, but man, I’m excited to finally be making some more travel plans again and have somewhere to actually head. First up, we’re off to Mammoth (for the first time) to do some skiing (pray for me, I haven’t been on a slope in at least 5 years!) and to support our friend whose film is at Mammoth Film Festival (so proud and excited for her!). So excited to be in the snow and cold again!
