Flower Crown Cocktails

Flower Crown Cocktails

With my recent visit to Palm Springs, and Coachella starting just next week, I can’t help but feel inspired by festival season. Creating curated playlists, shopping for fun and flowery pieces, and, of course, even getting creative in the kitchen.

While I’ve never been to Coachella, you don’t have to actually attend to know that flower crowns are kind of a big deal there. So naturally, because there’s no such thing as too many flower crowns, I was inspired to create these festive flower crown cocktails. They only require a few ingredients; flowers, strawberry lemonade (or a lemonade flavor of your choice) and Segura Viudas Cava Brut, and they come together faster than you can say “Coachella”!

I’m sure many of you, like me, won’t actually be attending Coachella this year, but I’m not letting that get between me and a good flower crown cocktail, and neither should you. These beauties can just as easily be served at a brunch gathering, or have a whole flower crown themed afternoon with your girlfriends (aka sip on these cocktails while making flower crowns). Don’t worry, I even created a Coachella playlist for you to listen to (right here), so you can almost feel like you’re there.

But about these cocktails…here’s what you’ll need and how to make them:

Edible flowers and herbs (I like to use things like lavender, violets, pansies, snap pea flowers, mint) Twine Scissors Strawberry (or flavor of your choice) lemonade, chilled Segura Viudas Cava Brut, chilled

To make the flower crowns, you’ll first need to create a base layer. I like to use something a bit sturdier for this, such as lavender or mint stalks. Using thick pieces a few inches long, weave them together, tying with twine where necessary, to form them into a circular shape big enough to fit the rim of the glass. Trim off the excess twine, and then decorate with flower buds as desired (you can also complete this step after the crown is on the glass).

To make the cocktail, simply combine two parts lemonade with two parts cava brut in a tumbler glass. Top with a flower crown and serve with a straw.

Have you ever been to Coachella, or are you going this year? And, whether you’re attending or not, what’s one of your favorite artists playing in this year’s line-up?
