Cinnamon Sugar Latte

Cinnamon Sugar Latte RECIPE

Did you grow up with cinnamon toast crunch cereal? I did not, but I hear from trusted sources who did (ahem my husband) that this cinnamon sugar latte tastes a whole lot like that cereal. And based on how excitedly he says that I’m gonna go with that being a good thing! Ha!

Of course, it’s still just as delicious for those of us who were cereal deprived as children. For me, it’s reminiscent of cinnamon and sugar toast, you know the one that’s toasted until golden brown and swirling with melted pools of butter. Yeah that but in latte form. No toast or toasting (or cereal) required. It’s just warm and cozy, like a hug in a mug. It’s got an ingredient list that’s as short and sweet as it is, it takes mere minutes to make and it’s the perfect way to wake up on a cold fall or winter morning, or give your afternoon a little cinnamon-seasoned boost.

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS CINNAMON SUGAR LATTE

The ingredient list for this recipe is short and sweet (just like the drink). Here’s what you need to make this recipe-

CINNAMON

GRANULATED SUGAR- coconut sugar also works well for this latte

ESPRESSO- I originally developed this recipe using a Nespresso pod (Ristretto capsules, to be exact), however, you can use any espresso shot of your choice, or you can use one ounce of a very strongly brewed coffee

MILK- I like to use 2% regular milk but any milk of your choice will work well

CINNAMON STICKS- I like to use these for garnish and stirring the finished latte, but they are optional.

HOW TO MAKE THIS CINNAMON SUGAR LATTE

This latte is so simple and uncomplicated and takes mere minutes to brew up.

STEP 1- MIX THE CINNAMON + SUGAR

Some of this mixture will go into the bottom of your coffee mug and some will be reserved for the top of the latte; feel free to add a little additional sugar (to your mug, not the mix) if you prefer your latte to be sweeter.

STEP 2- BREW THE ESPRESSO

If you’re using a pod or a machine like a Breville you can brew the espresso directly into the mug; just give it a stir once it’s done brewing so that it can combine with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

STEP 3- FROTH THE MILK

Froth the milk to your desired consistency; I like mine to be thick, almost like whipped cream and I love to use the Aeroccino because it warms and froths the milk to the perfect consistency. Once it’s frothed add it into the mug right on top of the espresso.

STEP 4- DUST WITH CINNAMON + SUGAR

Top the latte with the remaining cinnamon and sugar mixture and, if desired, garnish with a cinnamon stick (optional but it’s fun and a great way to stir the latte as you drink it).

EQUIPMENT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS CINNAMON SUGAR LATTE

ESPRESSO MACHINE- I like to use my Breville, but anything from a Nespresso machine to a Moka will work as long as it brews espresso.

MILK FROTHER- I lOVE my Nespresso Aeroccino (so much so that I even travel with it) so I use that for this recipe, but feel free to use your preferred milk frother of choice.
