Clean Beauty Edit // December 2020

Ok, so I know a new beauty edit has been long overdue, and I’ve been meaning to share this one for a while but ya know, holidays, life… Anyways, I’ve been testing out some great new-to-me clean beauty brands, as well as some new products from lines I already use and love, and I really wanted to get these on your radar because I’m loving them all so much. So, without further ado, here is December’s beauty edit…

Clean Beauty Edit // December 2020

KANA SKINCARE c/o

This line is all about K-Beauty meets CBD meets clean skincare. For some reason, I haven’t tried a whole lot of K-beauty products, even though I’ve wanted to, but I’m really loving this line. The oil is great for skin that is dry, dull and stressed (aka winter skin) and it smells like a spa so I instantly feel more relaxed and calm when I put it on (I especially love using it at night to help me sleep better, but I’ll also dab it on throughout the day if I’m stressed as I feel like it’s so calming. I love the sleeping masks. The lavender one is great for dull skin as it brightens your skin and gives you a glow while helping with inflammation and breakouts (plus, lavender is great for helping you sleep better), and the purple rice one is great for anti-aging and creating smoother, softer skin (Also, how cool is that there’s purple rice in it??!). It smells lovely and I can definitely tell the difference after the nights that I’ve worn it.

Taos AER deodorant

TAOS AER c/o

I’m always a sucker for a good clean deodorant, especially when it comes in pretty packages and pretty scents and Taos AER is a brand that delivers on all fronts. The highly concentrated, waterless formula provides an odor-neutralizing performance in sophisticated, spa-like scents (my current favorite is the Palo Santo Blood Orange…I mean swoon!). Even better, the deodorant is available at so many great places, including Credo, Follain, The Detox Market and, now, even at Target.

rituel skincare

RITUEL SACRED SET SERUM + ROSE TONER c/o

You guys know my love for rose hip oil and rosewater, so when I saw those were two star ingredients in this new line, I was immediately intrigued. I also love that it’s a local brand based in close-by Topanga Canyon. Oh, and did I mention they products are also formulated with CBD? This line is all about nourishing, healing and hydrating. It’s full of anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits, it protects against environmental damages, it leaves your skin glowing and hydrated, I mean, it’s hard to find something that this line WON’T do. I actually brought it with me to Joshua Tree so I could test out the hydration factor. I figured if it worked in one of the driest climates, it would definitely work for winter. And I have to say, I think I left the desert with more dewy, glowy, moisturized skin then when I came. In other words, put these products on your list for winter skincare game changers.

PLAYA SALT SHAMPOO

PLAYA

BRIGHTENING SHAMPOO // After getting some blonde highlights added to my hair, I knew the first thing I needed to get was a purple shampoo. But finding a clean one seems to be like finding a needle in a haystack. But then, I happened to be scrolling IG, as one does, and I saw Playa announcing the launch of this, their latest product. I was so excited and ordered it immediately and have had zero regrets so far. Although, to be fair, I don’t have much experience in the purple shampoo department, but still, I’m loving this one.

SALT SCRUB // I’ve been dying to get my hands on a container of this scrub and I finally recently did, thankfully just in time for dry scalp season. So far it hasn’t been hard to see why it’s always sold out. It smells amazing and you can definitely feel it working. However, I feel like the results don’t last more than a day or two after washing before my scalp starts getting dry and flaky again, so I think I need to find another product to supplement this one.

type:a deodorant and hand cream for Clean Beauty Edit

TYPE:A c/o

I was so intrigued to try this brand’s clean deodorant. It comes in what looks more like a hand lotion tube (See why I was intrigued?!), it’s free of aluminum, the ingredients list is clean and safe, it’s cruelty free, carbon neutral and they’re also certified B corp. It’s sweat activated with a time release so that it lasts a long time, it helps absorb toxins and it’s super lightweight so it glides on very easily. It’s also easy find as it is available at Target and Credo. Currently, they have 6 really unique and intriguing scents (I have the Fresh Bergamot + Rain) plus a fragrance-free option, so there’s something that works for everyone. The brand also has a few other products, including a new hand cream, which may be one of the best hand creams I’ve tried in a while. When I saw it had calendula in it I knew it was going to be good as I remember my Mom always used calendula products for dry, winter skin or to heal cracked skin and it worked like a charm. This hand cream is no different. It absorbs almost instantly and you’re not left with some annoying greasy residue that basically makes your hands inoperable for like an hour. Instead, it just makes my hands feel super soft and moisturized. I’m not usually a fan of citrus scents as they can be too strong and overpowering, but this one is barely there, just light and refreshing. However, next time I definitely want to try the vanilla almond milk (I mean, how on-brand is that packing for me??!).

JANUARY LABS TRIPLE ACTIVE RECLAIMING SERUM

JANUARY LABS TRIPLE ACTIVE RECLAIMING SERUM c/o

As I think many of you probably know by now, this is one of my all-time favorite clean beauty lines. I’ve tried just about everything in the line and nothing has let me down yet, including my latest try, which is this product. I’ve had a hard time finding a clean retinol that actually works AND doesn’t bother my skin, but this one is specifically formulated for sensitive skin and so far it seems to be doing the trick. I also love that it has niacinamide and vitamin C making this an all-around powerful product that really packs a punch when it comes to fighting the signs of aging and pigmentation.

naturally serious skincare

NATURALLY SERIOUS c/o

So this is a line that I’ve been wanting and meaning to try for so long now, and I’m honestly not sure just why I haven’t. But when the brand offered to send me some product to test out, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. I love that this line is a bit more accessibly priced, available at Sephora, that the product containers are reusable and/or recyclable, that the cartons are made in carbon neutral facilities using wind power, the products are green friendly, anti-pollution and formulated without any nasty ingredients. Oh yeah, and most of their products are TSA approved (you know, for when we’re all flying again). That in and of itself is just amazing as anyone who has flown frequently knows what a pain it can be to deal with beauty products while traveling. As far as the products that I’ve been trying, I’ve been using the peel pads (LOVE! They leave my skin so soft and glowing!), the zero baggage eye cream (so here for that name), the anti-oxidant moisture serum and the after-dark sleeping cream (which has this lovely almost whipped texture and feels very moisturizing on my skin). Overall, I just feel like the products are great at helping with tone and texture.
