I used to go to Cape Cod every year with my family, but once we moved to the Midwest the Cape trips, sadly ended. I've been trying to make it back out there ever since Mr. RC and I became East Coasters once again, and finally, this year, we did (thanks to some friends who invited us to rent a house with them). The only thing that I remembered was the candy store, which indicates two things- 1) It's been so long since I've been to the Cape that I've become too old to remember anything and 2) Clearly I had my priorities straight when I was a kid! Since I didn't remember anything, and Mr. RC had never been, we had a fun few days exploring the Cape.

{The house we stayed at was in Eastham, so we ended up grabbing breakfast at The Hole in One 2 out of the 3 mornings that we were there. They're known for their donuts, but we weren't overly impressed by those. They weren't horrible by any means, they just weren't our favorite donuts. However, we loved their iced coffee (Iced Hazelnut Cream), asiago bagel with bacon and spinach cream cheese, and the cinnamon muffins dubbed "The Tom Bomb". Also, it was very reasonably priced (everything in the above picture was around $6).}

{The first day we had lunch at the The Friendly Fisherman. The prices were average for the Cape but pricey if you were anywhere else. However, the clam strips and fries were well-seasoned and cooked just right. The coleslaw was so-so, but who really cares about that when you have seafood, right?!}

{The day we went to Provincetown we had lunch at Bubala's...We had the fish tacos and the lobster roll. The food was very good and the seafood was super fresh. They have an in-house fish filet-er, which definitely made a huge difference in the taste of the tacos, and the prices were perfect for what you get.}

{The Head of the Meadow beach was not only a beautiful (almost deserted) beach with pristine sand and pretty blue waters, but it was a great place to spot seals. We easily saw at least 200 hundred seals, if not more, and since seals are one of my favorite animals (Hello Andre!) this was by far one of the highlights of the trip for me.}

{Since there were 6 of us staying in the house we thought it would be fun to have a lobster boil one night. We got these big boys from the same place that we got our clam strips (here) then Mr. RC did the boiling for us.}

{On our way out of the Cape to go to the Berkshires, we stopped in Plymouth so we could get one last fill of seafood. We ordered the fried clams and shrimp cocktail at the Lobster Hut. We were both a bit surprised to find that it was actually a little better than the place in Eastham and it was considerably cheaper.}

Well, here's hoping it won't be so long until my next trip to the Cape....and if it is, at least I'll remember more this time (thanks to good ol' blogging and technology)....
