MANAGE YOUR DAY-TO-DAY //

As someone who juggles many different tasks on any given day, I’m constantly working on ways to improve my scheduling, productivity, organization and efficiency. This book has been a total game changer in how I approach my days and my schedule. While many of the tips are things I have heard before, it packages them in a way that makes them easy to understand and, consequently, implement them effectively into your own life. Being the quote fanatic that I am, I, of course, love the motivational quotes sprinkled throughout the material. I also love that the chapters are short and manageable so you can get through them even when you’re short on time. And lastly, I love that each chapter is written by a different professional, allowing the reader to get expert opinions and advice from a variety of professionals from a variety of backgrounds and industries. If you run a business, or are just trying to make better use of your time, this book is a must read.

THE WOMAN ON THE STAIRS //

I haven’t had much time for fun reads over the past few months, but I did make my way through this one. It was a quick read, and I probably would have finished it much sooner if I hadn’t been traveling (and forgotten to pack it) as much. The leading lady is is a bit of a con artist, wooing men over, then disappearing without a trace. However, I found the narrator (the lawyer) to be a bit dull and boring, and the overall writing of the story to be rather plain (I frequently skimmed pages throughout the book.). I also found myself getting annoyed with the flow of the story, and how the woman clearly used people for her own purposes and entertainment and then how the lawyer stuck with her, despite it all, to help her through a tough time. The underlying lesson, though, is a good reminder for all of us on apologies, forgiveness, letting go and moving on.

Up Next: The Productivity Project (because, as a small business, you can never not being working on being more productive), Tartine (they just opened their LA location, so I’m all about all things Tartine right now), Goodbye to All That and The Year of Magical Thinking
