Denim shorts are right up there along with beach days, bbqs and ice-cream when it comes to things that signify summertime. I mean, what could be more quintessential summer wear than some good ol’ fashion jean shorts? Not only are they comfy, they literally go.with.everything! White tee? Yes! Flip flops and bikini top? Check! Heels and a blouse? For sure! Grace, Jealeyni, Luci and I wanted to show you just how versatile denim shorts are in this month’s edition of 4×4 Style.
Sweatshirt: Kohls, Shorts: cut-offs made from Buckle Jeans (similar, similar), Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti, Sunnies: H&M, Belt: Target, Bag: a vintage bag of my Mom’s, Lipstick: Maybelline “Coral Crush“, Nails: Sally Hansen “Snappy Sorbet“
When it came to choosing a pair of denim shorts, I knew exactly which ones I wanted to style- cut-offs made from my favorite high-school jeans, that are hanging on by a thread (pun intended) but that I refuse to give up on (they are just too darn comfy!). I am not kidding when I say I will literally wear these until they rip to shreds (I’ve already put on 3 different patches). While I tend to wear these on the more casual side with a tee shirt and flip-flops, I wanted to switch up this look for something a little dressier while still maintaining the casual coolness of the rips and frays. The sweatshirt, shorts and bag speak to the comfort side of things, but the studded black heels, the pops of orange/coral (throwback to our first 4×4 post!), and the lace back of the shirt take this look to a slightly edgy, glam side.
