Never Ending Black and White Story

Black and white outfit  While black and white is (and always will be) a favorite of mine I am a) beyond ready for color, b) longing for sandals & no-jacket-required outfits and c) sounding like a hypocrite, the latter of which, the weather is, of course, entirely to blame for. There are only so many ways to style a winter coat and only so many pictures I can take sans jacket (freezing while taking pictures isn’t exactly a skill I possess, who would have thought), so black and white we meet again. But spring, my blue shoes and I are ready and waiting for you. Like yesterday….

James Jeans faux leather skinnies

Can we talk about my faux leather pants obsession right now?? Because I am indeed obsessed with these beauties. I literally wear them all the time! Except for the gym because that would be really hot and sweaty (although it could be a good way to sweat off that Easter candy?!). Oh and to bed, because well, leather pjs is just awkward.

I also love being able to show off pieces, such as the fur stole, that have spent the last several months hibernating under heavy jackets. And while I am more then ready for spring’s warmth, I’ve got to admit, I just love this in-between weather. It says “show a touch of skin” not “bikini body ready”. Which is good…..because after all that Easter candy, I am far from bikini body ready. Better get to the gym in my leather skinnies!

Spring Fling With Brightly Colored Things

spring fashion 2013

I have a confession to make.

bright colors and florals

I am having a fling. With brightly colored things obviously!

bright colored clothes

Hence, why you see me dressed head-to-toe looking like a bag of skittles/sherbet cone/rainbow….which I’m totes mcgotes ok with, by the way. (Side note: totes mcgotes?! Who am I and what language am I speaking?!)

brightly colored spring fashionSadly, I was alone in my brightly colored bubble of excitement. Everyone else in NYC is still in their black garb hibernation, leaving me to stand out like a tropical cocktail in the middle of dessert. Something I am most definitely totes mcgotes ok with, but seriously New York (and everywhere else for that matter!) join me in sacking the black and get into the warmer colors of spring.

Double Striped

Scarf: thrifted (similar), Dress: Calvin Klein (love this one!), Sweater: Old Navy (similar), Belt: from a dress (similar), Tights: Express, Booties: similar, Jacket: J.Crew (similar), Sunnies: H&M, Bag: BCBGeneration c/o Lockerz (similar colors), Hat & Gloves: Windhorse made in Nepal, bought at a holiday shop in Bryant Park by my lovely in-laws!

Today was one of those days. I couldn’t think of anything to write (possibly because I had just used all my brain cells to write a 10 page to-do list).

So I did what I normally do when I need help & I turned to the Mr. As it turns out, female fashion isn’t his forte (I believe his suggestion for explaining this outfit was something to do with stars & stripes….whaaaat?!)

So I will summarize for you instead. Stripes are good. Double the stripes are better. Winter basics (black & white, sweater & sweater dress) look better with stripes. Boots are more fun with fur.  And always accessorize with stars, er pops of bright color.

Wild Thing

Sunnies: Sample Sale, Shirt: Express (similar), Shorts: H&M (similar), Shoes: Blink (similar styles), Bag: via TJ Maxx, Bracelet: Thrifted

Normally, when I do something wild (like drink wine on a Tuesday night), I like to do it in small doses.

For whatever reason, “small” wasn’t in my vocab on this day.

I went all crazy wearing bright yellow, leopard AND wedge sneakers.

Watch out world!
