4th of July is tomorrow (in case you haven’t looked at a calendar recently) and if you have no idea what you’re making, well, you’re probably out of luck. Kiiiiiiddddding! While I may not be able to help you much with the food side of things (although this may be of some help), I do have you covered in the category that truly matters, aka cocktails. Versions of this drink have been floating around for some time now, but it never gets old to be able to dress AND drink your patriotic colors. My variation calls for cake vodka, but if you prefer, regular vodka would also work well. Cheers to your 4th of July cocktails!
4th of July Cake Cocktails
Chill everything before you pour into glass
1 oz. Grenadine
1/2 oz. Cranberry Juice
2 oz. Cake (or regular) Vodka
1 oz. Sprite
1 oz. Blue Gatorade
There are two keys to having the drink distinguish its Red, White and Blue color. One is by having patience and carefully pouring each ingredient down the side of the glass. The second is by pouring the ingredients with the heaviest sugar content from the bottom to the top.
Start by pouring the cranberry juice and grenadine on the bottom. Top generously with ice, as this will also help with the color separation. Then slowly pour the vodka down the side of the glass to not create any bubbles or mixture between the grenadine/cranberry juice mix. Repeat with the Sprite and the same with the blue Gatorade.
