Googling bath salts these days can get you in some serious trouble. You’re either a druggie or a zombie. But don’t worry, I’m not teaching you how to make a crazy people-eating drug or anything. Instead this is something that will help you (hopefully) calm down from all those crazies.
I’ve been making my own bath salts for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, they were the gift of choice for my sister and I to make for our female relatives. I’m pretty sure between all the holidays and birthdays they got a lifetime supply of every scent imaginable. Since bath salts tend to be super pricey (and they smell like a musty basement meets a closet of mothballs), I still love to make my own. Plus, you can’t beat making your own scent combinations!
You will need- Epsom Salts (I picked up mine at Target for $2), a container to mix in that has a secure lid (I used an empty drink mix container), essential oils (I like lavender, jasmine and lily of the valley, but they have “Relax” and “Tranquil” mixes which also sound nice) and a storage jar with a secure lid
Pour the epsom salt in to the mixing container. I like to mix in batches of about 2 cups.
Add in drops of the essential oils. I have found using 10-12 drops of oil is usually a good amount. The nice thing about making your own, though, is you can not only expriment with the scents and how many you use at a time, but you can also control how faint or strong you want the scent to be.
