If there was ever a season to indulge, the holidays is it. With cold temperatures making you want to seek comfort in decadent foods and seasonal festivities brimming with rich and delicious treats, it truly is the season for indulgence. You’d probably never guess it (which is code for: you would definitely guess it), but one of my favorite ways to indulge is with sweet treats, specifically chocolate. I’m convinced if chocolate suddenly disappeared, I wouldn’t survive longer than 24 hours. Similarly, put a chocolate treat near me and it won’t last longer than 24 seconds. While I’m not biased when it comes to chocolate, there are a few ways that I like to enjoy it in the colder months-
Hot Chocolate || I’ve had hot chocolate in all shapes and forms and I’ve come to one conclusion-I love them all! This yummy beverage definitely takes the cake as one of my favorite ways to indulge and warm up in the winter months. FYI, I always put a few chocolate chips in the bottom of my mug for an extra chocolate-y treat!
Chocolate Fondue || I have a soft spot for any dish that allows me to eat a pot of melted chocolate under the guise that I’m simply eating dessert. With so many flavors and dipper options, this warm treat is perfect for a cool night with lots of friends.
Rado Chocolate Watches || Rado, a Swiss-made watch company, recently invited me to spend the evening with them at Francois Payard. Beautiful watches and sweet treats? I couldn’t resist! Their newest collection, appropriately made in a rich chocolate brown ceramic, had me craving a whole different kind of treat! The watches glided on my wrist as easily as a piece of chocolate melting in my mouth. In other words, they were incredibly lightweight and comfortable thanks to the high-tech ceramic that they are engineered from. This same material also ensures that the watches are durable and scratch resist as well as hypo-allergenic (something I, as a person with sensitive skin, really appreciate). This indulgent “wrist candy” has definitely caught my attention and I’m hoping it won’t be long before I get another “taste” (aka you can probably guess what is going on my Christmas list this season!)!
Chocolate + Wine Pairing || At the same Rado watch event I also got to indulge in a Payard chocolate + wine pairing. I’m no stranger to enjoying wine and chocolate together (after all, they are two of my favorite things), but it was fun to partake in an actual pairing and tasting. The biggest thing that I learned? You pretty much can’t go wrong with chocolate and wine! They may just be the two easier things to pair together! I’m now predicting lots of chocolate + wine pairing nights throughout the winter months. I mean, how fun would that be for an evening with friends? Everyone could bring a bottle of wine and a chocolate or chocolate dessert to pair with it and you’re all set for a fun night in!
Chocolate Oatmeal || When I was growing up, some mornings, as a special treat, my Mom would add a little cocoa powder and extra sugar to my bowl of oatmeal. While this is by far the healthiest indulgence on this list, the addition of chocolate is enough to make anything, especially a boring bowl of oatmeal, a treat.
What’s your favorite chocolate (or other) indulgence in the winter months?
