Aaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!! Insert hallelujah emoji hands x 100, because that is how I feel right now. The all new and improved Runway Chef is here and to say I’m excited is an understatement. I started planning this new design at least half a century year ago so it’s a little hard to believe that it’s finally live. But sure enough, 3 frameworks, 2 (or 10…I lost track) transfers, a ridiculous amount of calls to Bluehost (I’m surprised they even still take our calls), many all-nighters (ok 2am/3am, which is basically an all-nighter for someone of my age), a plethora of panic attacks and breakdowns, possibly a heart attack, 1 site crash, and lots of coffee fuel later, the new design is live (if you can’t see it, make sure you clear your cache). The entire redesign was based on making the site cleaner, fresher, more modern, and most importantly, more user friendly. And, for good measure, I’ve thrown in some rebranding. Let’s take a little tour, shall we?
Starting at the very top you’ll notice the usual suspects- About (which will be updated later this week), Contact (which is now a pop-up form….go ahead, try it…I’ll be here waiting), Search (which has been updated to give you the most relevant search results possible), and, of course, social media buttons. This menu bar is static, meaning it will stay with you as you scroll the entire page so you can always easily access things like ‘Search’ at all times.
Next, you’ll notice a smaller logo, followed by the rebranded categories. Wear is all things style and beauty, eat covers everything food, wander is for travel, dwell is about the home, celebrate is for all your entertaining needs, and series is where you will find things like Happy Hour and The Cooking Couple. You can click on any of the tabs (i.e. Eat) to view everything in that category, or you can hover and select from the drop-down menu to view only a specific tag (i.e. Desserts)
Moving on down, we have the slider, which will display the 5 most recent posts. Below that you will find the current post displayed at full width, followed by the last 4 posts. Following that you will see recent posts broken down into their appropriate category (i.e. Wear, Eat, Wander, etc).
At the bottom you will find buttons to follow along on Instagram, check out everywhere I’ve been featured (to be updated later this week), and to find all my Pin-spiration on Pinterest.
Last but not least you can find my FAQ, Policies, and a few other odds and ends at the very bottom of the page.
One other update I would like to point out is the recipe cards, which will now include nutritional information at the bottom (which may or may not be a good thing, depending on the recipe).
Please bear with my as I adjust to working with a new layout. Additionally, please keep in mind that there are still a few small changes (or large ones, like finding some missing posts or fixing some of the pictures (i.e. the ones that probably aren’t loading for you at the bottom of the page)…if anyone wants to volunteer for the job, I’ll pay in cookies) that will be happening over the next few days, so if you see anything that doesn’t work, needs to be fixed, looks awful, or you don’t like, please let me know. Otherwise, I hope that you enjoy the new look. After all, if it weren’t for you, the RC readers, there would be no RC. As always thank you all so much for your continued support, and, again, I hope you enjoy the new site.
P.S. An overwhelming huge thank you to my ever-supportive husband. He stayed up, right by my side, for countless late hours (even when he had work the next morning) and willingly sacrificed pretty much every waking minute to help me design, code, and prepare the new site. He also spent hours on the phone with our server, he calmed me down from one too many breakdowns, and, most importantly, he brought me bubbly to celebrate the new look (priorities people, priorities).
