(Not pictured- reading material, a small bag for collecting shells, and a nice sunny beach)
Summer is well under way (which you obviously know, unless you live in the North Pole) and that means beach trips are filling up our calendars left and right. While I tend to have over-packers syndrom no matter where I am going, I have at least narrowed down my list of beach bag essentials to below 10 items.
Deodorant– The beach is hot and sweaty, so this is a no-brainer to me. Side note about this deodorant- I am super picky about deodorant and am constantly searching for the perfect one. I never like the scent, the consistency, the fact that it never goes on as clear as it says it will, how I usually have to reapply it every couple of hours even though it claims to be long-lasting, and most importantly how my skin breaks out in allergic reactions. However, I think I have finally met my match with this one. It smells good, goes on, and stays on, clear, and for once, I have broken out in hives. Praise Jesus!
Tinted Lip Balm– Keep that pucker looking pretty and moist! This smells delicious, goes on with just the right amount of color, and is incredibly moisturizing. All for only a few dollars! Side note-how cute is the apple-shaped center?!
Sunscreen-Duh! I love how this one is also a moisturizer, eliminating the need to bring both sunscreen AND lotion.
Bag– I picked up an awesome white and blue striped beach bag from the cutest shop while road tripping in Maine. It’s both durable and massive, meaning it can hold alllllllll my stuff and withstand the elements.
Towel– Another no-brainer. Also, I happen to be obsessed with flamingoes currently, so I kind of really like this towel.
Snacks– If I get hungry, let’s just say no one will want to be around me, so I always make sure to have some food on hand. Of course, at the beach, you want things that aren’t too messy, somewhat healthy (since you ARE in a bathing suit), and avoid things that might melt (chocolate, ice-cream, popsicles). I like granola bars, trail mix (some ideas to mix up your own here), goldfish crackers, fruit snacks and frozen grapes (cool and refreshing while they are frozen, but still taste good when they unthaw).
Drinks– Staying hydrated in the heat is essential. Freeze juice boxes and then grab a couple when you head out the door. By the time you’re ready for them on the beach, they will have melted but will still be nice and cold (they will also double as ice-packs if need be).
